Scrub the spots in the car where the dog has previously had an “accident.” This is key because most dogs are willing to urinate in a place that they can smell. It’s best to remove any traces of urine.

Remain calm during and before driving in the car. Often times, urination problems come from a dog feeling anxious, excited, or territorial. By calmly introducing the idea of a car ride, the dog has less reason to get all worked up and pee while you are driving.
