Towing a Trailer with the 2014 GMC Sierra

Towing a trailer isn’t always the most fun thing to do. But, if you want to get your toys to their destination, it needs to be done. And with the introduction of the new 2014 GMC Sierra in Kenosha, towing a trailer just got that much easier. So why is towing a trailer with the 2014 GMC Sierra such a joy? Read on.

GMC went to great lengths to make towing a trailer with the 2014 GMC Sierra much easier for the driver. The truck features the popular Trailer Sway Control that you may have seen on other GMC trucks recently. But, it goes even further than that. The truck now has a Tow/Haul mode that can be activated by a button on the shifter. This modifies the transmission to allow for optimal trailering conditions. The transmission shifts at different RPMs to keep the Sierra pulling properly all the time. And it also allows for downshifting when the truck is slowing up, helping to slow down all that extra weight.
In addition to all it does when towing a trailer down the road, the Sierra also has you covered when launching or picking up a boat. Anyone who has done this before knows that when you put your truck into drive, there is a precarious point when it tries to roll back into the lake. Well with the new Sierra, the Hill Start Assist is engaged in this moment, which holds the brake briefly, allowing the driver to get on the gas and pull everything out of the lake.

It’s a lot of little things that come together to make towing a trailer a lot less stressful. Dealing with everything that happens on the roads is tough enough without towing a trailer. That’s why GMC put effort into making the process as simple as possible.
