This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission and helps to optimize power and efficiency. The second engine available for drivers is a 3.6-liter V6 gas engine. This engine creates an optimal blend of power, torque and efficiency. It reaches 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque, and is coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The final engine option drivers can have is a Duramax 2.8-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. This engine produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, has a segment-first exhaust brake and an integrated trailer brake controller.
2018 GMC Canyon Towing Capacity
The Canyon’s towing capacity depends on which engine you select when choosing your Canyon model. The 2.5-liter I4 engine can tow up to 3,500 pounds, while the 3.6-liter V6 engine can reach a 7,000-pound towing capacity when equipped with the available Trailering Package. The Duramax Diesel engine can tow a maximum 7,700 pounds.
