With the Cascada and LaCrosse soon heading off to greener pastures, it’s encouraging to see a new Buick model being added to the fold. That would be the upcoming 2020 Buick Encore GX as a new level of SUV.
Essentially, the 2020 Buick Encore GX will act as a beefed-up version of the Encore in both size and power, placing it between the Encore and the Envision in the Buick SUV catalog. A good comparison in terms of changes between the Encore and the Encore GX would be the Nissan Rogue Sport and Rogue, or the Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe XL. Just in case the pictures don’t do it justice, those who have seen the Buick Encore GX at its auto show premieres describe it as similar in size to the Jeep Compass.
As we’re still quite a bit away from the release date of the 2020 Buick Encore GX, much of its specs and features information is still under wraps. However, the engine options, as well as power outputs for each option, have since been announced.
The 2020 Buick Encore GX will have two, turbocharged three-cylinder engine options.
The first, baseline option is a 1.2L turbocharged inline 3 engine that produces 137 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.
The second is an upgraded 1.3L turbocharged inline 3 engine that produces 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.
In addition to a plethora of new specs and features for the debut of a new Buick model, the 2020 Buick Encore GX will also premiere with the following driver-assistance technology and safety features as standard:
Additionally, more safety and security features will be available at the higher trim levels of this brand-new Encore GX model.
