The phrase “Cadillac Blackwing™” previously alluded to a 4.2L twin-turbo V8 engine used by the company for sports sedan models, most notably the Cadillac CT6. However, the upcoming Cadillac CT4-V and Cadillac CT5-V models will carry the Blackwing™ badge, premiering as Cadillac V-Series Blackwing™ models. Although not equipped with the actual Blackwing™ engine, these models aim to carry on the tradition of ultimate Cadillac performance that the name stands for. Therefore, today, we’ll take a look at what to expect from the upcoming Cadillac V-Series Blackwing™ sports sedan models.
The Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing™ is expected to be equipped with a supercharged 6.2L V8 engine borrowed from the Chevy Camaro ZL1.
This produces 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque.
Transmission options are likely to be a 6-speed manual.
The Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing™ is expected to be equipped with the engine of the retired ATS-V, that being a 3.6L twin-turbo V6.
This produces 464 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque.
Transmission options are likely to be a 6-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic.
The Cadillac V-Series Blackwing™ models were originally supposed to debut before the end of 2020 and then officially release in the midst of 2021. Due to world events, that attempted schedule has been altered. A debut of the Cadillac V-Series Blackwing™ models is now scheduled for 2021 with a release date tentatively pushed into 2022.
